I was thinking about how I might make some different choices if I were to compile that tape today. At some point nostalgia prevails, but geez "One More Chance" is a long song. You could fit two bad boys in that slot. "John Lee," say, and either "Now Be Thankful" or "Rosie"...or something off of "What We Did..." which is kind of underrepresented. "Tale In Hard Time"? "Mr. Lacey"? Anyway, iTunes playlists make the issue kind of moot, but in some ways the mix-tape time limit exerts a certain kind of beneficial discipline on matters, just as the 45 RPM 7-inch single kept songs in the '60s nice and tight until the drugs started taking over.

Good times. I remember making that tape, and I remember you taking to it...summer of 2001 I think (just before I moved out here). Though I thought I gave you some FC CDs at some point? A copy of "Full House" autographed by Simon Nicol and Dave Pegg, no? Maybe they got lost along the way. These things happen.

The problem with FC is that the classic albums on Island Records from the 1960s and 1970s go in and out of print in the US, and are currently out, with the possible exception of "Liege & Lief." You can get most of the way there with the 2-CD compilation "Meet on the Ledge," apparently available on iTunes, which includes everything on the tape except "Linen," "Bash," "Spens," "Caper," and "Flowers." For all of those except "Bash" you need "Full House." ("Bash" is on "Unhalfbricking.") Good luck!

I understand that they're often cached -- esp for regular users. I should have stated it would make a huge difference in some cases.

I noticed this, though, because of clicking on New Post form the Dashboard and seeing lots and lots of requests in the status bar while waiting for the page, indicating they're not in the cache. This happens pretty regularly for me.

Not sure about your average user.

The page will take longer to become operational, since Blogger's post editor is initialized in an onload handler. More files == longer until onload is fired.

In practice, JavaScript is executed serially and will hold up the page rendering until it's loaded. (IE supports a "deferred" attribute to mitigate this somewhat.) This is because the script may call document.write to modify the HTML.

One could structure things to put the script tags for "optional" features at the very bottom of the page, and write those files to "turn on" the feature once they load. This would work fine as long as you weren't hanging anything off of onload.

Of course, what may be the best structure is to have all common, necessary JavaScript in a single file that gets downloaded first (and cached for a long time). To keep this file small, less frequently-used features (like your spellcheck example) could load their JS only when you first click on the button.

You guys don't make it easy to leave a compliment! (But I just kept trying my luck by clicking through link after link - and well, now I'm here.)

I just want to tell you how much Blogger Play rocks. It is so cool to see all the different images. It reminds me how big life really is - and even if I'm having a crappy day (which I was until I spent 2 minutes watching blogger play) someone somewhere else isn't. Seeing their happy/quirky/beautiful images reminds me life goes on and is worth all the crap.

there is only 2 more things i would add:

1.-full screen version
(if possible, like with a vimeo or a silverlight player))
2.-option to zoom in/zoom out
(i can do it well in IE7, but would be a nice addition)
